One of the darlings of the Mexican electronic scene, the Swedes Covenant they will be back in our country in just a few days to present their latest production, ‘The Blinding Dark’, in a great concert -which is nothing to be sold out- in El Plaza Condesa along with the consented project of Daniel Graves, Aesthetic Perfection.
The singer of the band, Eskil SimonssonHe took a few minutes from his - surely - busy schedule to talk with us about his relationship with our country and the details of his most recent record label.
Thanks for the interview, we are very excited to return to Mexico and present our new album. We live in dark times and we wanted to make an album about how we do, and I think many of us feel, but we cannot express it in words. Let's say it is a new type of spirituality that connects us all.
We wanted to capture the feeling of despair and pain that surrounds us with our old analog synthesizers and drum machines, but also the growing optimism and spirit of new generations.
We love the song and many of our friends like Daniel Myer, Faderhead, and Iszloscope wanted to remix the song. I am working on a classic album with a symphony orchestra and it will include an acoustic piano version of it!
Glad to hear your hearts race like a roller coaster! This is how we feel in the studio. One moment I cry and the next I was assaulted by the horizon. Study work is letting go and recording what is happening.
Covenant has a huge and loyal community of adult fans, but: What is the way to conquer new and young audiences with your music?
We can only work hard and try to make music that we are proud of ourselves. I hope that new listeners can find a way to discover our world and the passion we put into it. We are so proud of our music and the community of people that gathered around the world coming to our concerts!
We know that they are fans of many veteran groups like Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode, but do you know of a new band or young project within the electro scene that you can recommend?
We love science fiction movies and grew up with the dystopian world of Bladerunner and Alien. Movies and literature have always been a great inspiration to us!
They will return to Mexico City in September. What can you tell us about this show? What can we expect for this next event?
Performing in Mexico is always a special event because you have the most intense audience in the world, in that they are like us. We have just finished our successful European Tour and hope to bring more smoke and stroboscopes than ever!
You are going to share the stage with Aestethic Perfection. What do you know about this project?
They are great. We invited these guys to support us on our “Leaving Babylon” tour and we had an amazing time together.
Finally. Do you want to leave a message for your Mexican fans?
Thanks for your passion, see you!
