KATATONIA Release Haunting Cover of KISS Classic “A World Without Heroes”

Swedish masters of melancholic metal KATATONIA release their haunting rendition of KISS’s “A World Without Heroes”, now available digitally alongside “Wind of No Change – Karin Park Remix”, honoring Ace Frehley’s legacy.

Swedish melancholic heavyweights KATATONIA have unveiled their hauntingly beautiful version of KISS’s “A World Without Heroes”, finally available on all digital platforms via Napalm Records. Originally a bonus track on their latest studio album, Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State, the release also includes “Wind of No Change – Karin Park Remix”.

KATATONIA’s rendition bridges the gap between classic rock and modern melancholy, reshaping the 1981 original into a cinematic, ethereal soundscape carried by Jonas Renkse’s deeply emotive vocals. The track highlights the band’s signature atmospheric touch, transforming the introspective spirit of KISS into something both timeless and profoundly human.

The release arrives as KATATONIA begin their extensive EU/UK headlining tour, launched this week in Turku, Finland, with Evergrey and Klogr as special guests. Fans can expect the band’s trademark immersive live experience, blending darkness, emotion, and cathartic beauty in equal measure.

“A final single from the Nightmares… session, a cover of KISS’ A World Without Heroes, one of the songs we usually listen to before going on stage,” says Jonas Renkse. “It now also serves as a memory of Ace Frehley’s legacy. Nico’s rendition of his solo is nothing short of amazing! Also included is Karin Park’s outstanding remix of Wind of No Change. Enjoy, and come see us in Europe this fall/winter!”

With “A World Without Heroes”, KATATONIA pay heartfelt tribute to one of rock’s most reflective songs, while reaffirming their place as modern architects of sorrowful elegance.
