Graveyard – ‘Peace’

Graveyard – ‘Peace’

Black clouds over the cemetery, it was read in the statement of the band that September 2016, when Graveyard He made the termination of the project public due to "differences between the members of the band", news that was painful for countless fans and followers of his work, although it only took a couple of years for that bitter drink to be cast aside , since the band began to give new signs of life through social networks, indicating their imminent and necessary return to the music scene, with a new lineup and adding to their career a new album, titled Peace.

Innocence & Decadence, from 2015, was the last material released before his passing, an album that, despite being very relaxed, compared to his previous works, had various musical gems, something usual in each material that Graveyard makes.

This time, the Swedish band included in their ranks Oskar Bergenheim on the battery Truls Mörck on bass (who was already part of the band since Innocence & Decadence) and those already known Jonathan Ramm on the guitar and Joakim Nilsson on vocals and guitar, ready to start a new stage and once again do what they do best.

Peace, their fifth album, turns out to be very powerful, in which perhaps they released everything they had content during their break, and it goes back a long way to the essence and sound that they defined years ago with their eponymous album and with the now classic Hisingen Blues, with a good dose of riffs, distortion, a lot of blues, classic rock, psychedelia and power.

It Ain't Over Yet It is the track that opens this LP and it does it in a direct, huge and powerful way, almost saying “Did you miss us? Listen to this ”or“ Sorry for the delay, here is Peace ”, even the title of the song tells us something about this, this is not over yet.

Guitars to drive you crazy, accompanied by a raspy voice of Joakim, are the perfect preamble to get the idea of what comes in the rest of the album.

Cold love It is a somewhat dark song, it is strong and it keeps you in that same state of intensity and interest to continue listening to all the other songs. A very notorious battery that practically marks your pulse and that rhythm in the simple style Graveyard.

The first moment that calms the entire initial sound revolution comes with See the Day, a completely mysterious and heartbreaking theme, gives us a moment of stillness in the journey that gives us Peace. In said song, the voice is in charge of Truls, bassist of the band.

Then the stridency is reborn when it appears Please don't, first single from the album, which was also accompanied by an official video. In a song that lets you listen to the role of each one of the musicians, direct and turbulent hard rock.

The fox It is a theme that also has a music video, the main riff automatically evokes that of "About a Girl" by Nirvana, merely random mention perhaps. It is a very rhythmic and enjoyable song.

We continue with the track Walk on, which gradually immerses us in the rhythm of it, until the moment comes when it detonates and fills us with the sound of hypnotic guitars and an accompaniment that makes it a theme that explodes completely.

Del Manic It is one of those tracks that inevitably envelop you and transport you to another place. Guitars that roar deeply, despite the general calm of the song, which also has that psychedelic essence.

Bird of Paradise It is a song that seems to come out of his debut album, it is completely intense, it is Graveyard in its entirety.

Although in his letter he mentions it "A Sign of Peace"This is a track that does not provide that peace, at least not initially, since it is a song that has a speed that invites you to move your head and shake your arm vigorously. As the last part of the song approaches, it has a decrease in said speed, which gives it an interesting touch and practically makes it one of the strong themes of the album.

The end has come and it's time to Low (I Wouldn't Mind), who has the task of closing the LP, and that not because it is the last track, has no relevance, but quite the contrary, we come across a piece that contains a lot of strength, psychedelia, a lot rock & roll and above all a great feeling, It has that degree of intensity that gives it, without a doubt, an excellent closure to the album.
