Legendary thrash metal band Exodus has revealed that it is currently working intensively on two albums at once, with over 18 songs already recorded. According to the release, the second album is nearly 80% complete, demonstrating a level of creativity and productivity that is rare in the genre.
This ambitious pace is based on a deep dedication: the group spent seven weeks in the studio and immediately hit the road, with no downtime. Vocalist Rob Dukes, once again in charge of vocals, has impressed so much that guitarist Gary Holt called him “insane,” noting that he does vocal things never before heard on Exodus.
The return of Dukes, who was vocalist from 2005 to 2014, comes amidst a period of internal renewal. The band decided to retain the reunion with a trusted figure rather than bringing in a completely new member, seeking to regain harmony after previous tensions. Holt noted that, as a group, they decided to prioritize enjoyment and well-being on and off the stage, avoiding awkward situations.
Holt describes the new material as a powerful blend of melody and force: "It's beautiful, crushing, catchy... punchy hits." At the same time, he affirms that there are elements previously unheard of for Exodus, but that the band's essence remains intact, fusing aggression and consistency with their classic legacy.
With plans to release their first album in early 2026, and their second shortly thereafter, Exodus promises a period of intense creativity and touring to come. After more than four decades, the band proves they can still surprise and redefine their sound with renewed vigor.
