After a break that seemed indefinite, the band of Stoner rock Truckfighters He gave the good news of returning to the stage and better yet: including Mexico on the tour. That is why we had the pleasure of talking with Dango (Niklas Källgren), guitarist of the group, before his visit this next August 22nd in the forum SALA Puebla of the Mexico City.
First of all: Where does the name of the band come from?
The name is taken from a book from the seventies that recounted the adventures of some desert truckers. It was not like that a great book or deep nor much less, but it was a habitual reading in those years. It is the only name that the band has had and it seems people liked it.
What was the real reason for your sudden break in 2018?
There is nothing hidden. What happened is that we were really tired of turning and we wanted to be home. We feel the time has come to take our responsibilities at home and rest. When you spend a lot of time giving concerts, there comes a time when you stop enjoying it and it becomes tedious, and it's time to stop.
Fortunately for Truckfighters fans, a year later they decided to resume the concerts
Yes it is. We needed rest but we really love this lifestyle and we love people; our fans who asked us every moment to return to the stage and visit their city. The truth is that our band and what we do we do because it makes us feel complete as human beings. Now the thing is not to engage in long and strenuous tours but to find a balance between action and rest, so as not to lose again the motivation to go out and put on some good shows.
Now removing live performances, are there any plans to release or create new material?
No the truth is no. We are happy giving concerts from time to time, but to produce new material you need another type of motivation that to be frank right now we don't have.
With this new tour, haven't you thought it's a good time to at least release a live DVD?
Yes! We like that idea more. We have been taking video of many of our presentations and it would not be crazy. We have material so it would only be a matter of sitting down and formally talking about it.
We are very happy to finally have them in Mexico. How do you feel and what have you got ready for the show? Are you going to treat yourselves to our country?
We have been trying for years to go to Mexico, and now we can finally go. We love your country, we have a song called “Mexico” in our EP “Desert Cruiser”, y la contraportada de nuestro LP “Hidden Treasures of Fuzz” it is in fact a map of the border with Mexico where we put the names of the songs as if they were points on the map. For us, Mexico is like a mystical place, like a religion for us. We will go with you at last. Sadly we are going very briefly and we will not have time to visit tourist places, but for this we will surely take another trip one day and why not: we will take the opportunity to play again.
Finally: Do you have a message for the fans who are already waiting for your visit?
Clear. The message would be to go to the show, and to be part of this energy exchange that we have prepared. Attend that we will be very happy to see you there. Go and enjoy the best show of your life.
