The last show of the Hipnosis Festival tour in Guadalajara happened and it was done in an almost religious way with the presentation of the English by Beak on November 7th.
If you like psychedelics and atmospheric sounds but you were under a stone we have bad news for you. The 2019 edition of Hypnosis branched out to Perla Tapatia with the presentations of Temples, Jonathan Bree, Kikagaku Moyo, and Electric Wizard #NoCiertoCancelóSinQueAúnSeanClarasLasRazones and of course with Beak, who had performed in the country just a few months ago at the NRMAL festival with resounding success, and a mutual love between band and public, this is the reason for their return. But we go in parts.
Who are Beak?
The ensemble is made up of a third of widely recognized musicians. The cornerstone is drummer Geoff Barrow who also plays bass drums and snares in Portishead, bassist Billy Fuller of Robert Plant and perhaps the least recognized Will Young - he came relatively recently - but not for that reason with less talent behind the synthesizer. Their music goes beyond a radio piece, it is a whole instrumental sound journey where they prioritize an organic recording out of over productions (cof, cof Tame Impala), and that they portray in their presentations.
After their concert in March in Mexico, and that magical evening, the trio went into Mexican culture and fell in love with it to such an extent that they included a battle cry from the popular Mexican culture in their song "Life Goes On ':" Mattresses and refrigerators are bought… ”, listen to her! You know, you feel, you breathe into Mexico in this melody.
Well and how was your show in Guadalajara?
Thursday, November 6 was the date on the C3 Stage. Geoff, Billy Fuller and Will showed that being a rockstar does not go with their lineage, theirs is to make music without pretension and to play it among friends, very close; in such a way that drums, bass and keyboard were placed on the edge of the parquet to prostrate just a few centimeters from the attendees, who incidentally did not fit in 'venue' but did fill it in an 80%. Good entry to be during the week, to be half of fortnight and to be Guadalajara. It hurts to say it but it is the truth.
'The Brazilian', 'Brean Down', 'Eggdog', 'The Meader', 'RSI', 'Allé Sauvage', 'I know', 'We Can Go', 'Wulfstan II', 'When We Fall II' , 'Life Goes On', 'Broken Window and' Back Down 'were the surreal setlist of the night. [penci_review]
