Batushka – ‘Hospodi’

Batushka it's a band of Black metal who immediately became a cult phenomenon within the metal scene for his liturgical records full of great dark and mystical sound passages, as well as for his image and concept on stage. Sadly, the Devil acted badly and set this story apart, and divided Batushka in 2 parts: one with Krzysztof Drabikowski, guitarist and founder of the group; and another led by Bartłomiej Krysiuk, probably the "bad" part of the story at least in the eyes of the vast majority of fans. It is this last part that launched his new work in July "Hospodi" via Metal Blade Records. Outcome? The name does not make talent, but the opposite ..

To summarize the note we can answer 2 questions: Is it a bad album? No: if it had been done by any other similar soundtrack, we could talk about a job well done, at least within the usual average. Is it a good record? Nor, because it is a disc released with the name of Batushka; And the sound quality of the work falls short of the name that revolutionized the metal scene a few years ago.

"Utrenia" it passes by without anything to comment since what could have been a good song is drowned in an endless sound gap that becomes tedious, and "Pierwyj Czas" maybe it's the track that with its accentuated sacred choirs is a little closer to the Batushka that one expected to hear. ”Tretij Czas” gives me the idea of a mere monotonous musical bridge to cross to "Szestoj Czas ” which is a good topic; Perhaps one of those who can get even for a moment that throbbing of skin that in a band show was kept in the veins every moment. Litourgiya The job closes and in the end one is disappointed to have traveled such a long road in a straight line, not at all. Without a doubt the name is there, the voices and certain aspects are there; but the talent and the originality stayed there, in the other half of Batushka.
