And One at Plaza Condesa: unique and unrepeatable

100

Ten years is what people had to endure to get back to And One, one of the most important projects of EBM and synthpop Worldwide. That is why from one month before the date the tickets were finished and the “Sold Out” surprised many fans. Some even in desperation ended up buying tickets for up to triple the original resale price, which sadly turned out to be fake. For the lucky attendees with secured entry, the rain was rushing them into the Condesa Square who looked full with his capacity full. Goths, industrialists and electronics lovers in general dressed in their best clothes and makeup and little by little they took place to the rhythm of the DJ mixes Dimitri Berzerk, undoubtedly one of the best known within the scene, and who was in charge of livening up the night before the main course.

When the time comes the lights go down completely and And One hace su aparición explotando en energía desde el primer beat de “Krieger“, que pone de inmediato a todo el recinto a bailar y cantar con locura, con todo y snippet incluido de “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” de Eurythmics. The time to pay tribute to another great comes with “Timekiller” original from Project Pitchfork, and people really bring a tremendous party on the floor and the balconies. And One es consciente de que el 15 de septiembre es una fecha importante para nuestro país, y deseando un feliz día de la independencia aderezado con varios “¡Viva México!”, la mágica noche continua con “Love You To The End" and "Body Company” con su sublime solo de teclado intermedio. Y a practicar el alemán que a continuación llega “Schwarz” and nobody wants to be silent for a second.

He jumps and runs, and then he turns like an exquisite dancer, proving that age doesn't tickle him; and it is with this waste of charisma that it takes us by the hand to feel it more closely with “Get You Closer” . “Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que nos vimos la otra vez, y esto ha sido solo porque la verdad es que no me gusta viajar. Pero prometo no volveremos a tardar tanto” he jokingly tells us and not so much Steve, and the show goes into a little less adrenaline and more sublime sounds with “Unter Meiner Uniform”, “Für” and “Killing The Mercy”. It is then that Joke Jay abandon the drums and take control of the vocals to invite us to fly to the highest with “High”, a moment undoubtedly beautiful especially when the bald singer asks people to raise their arms and then move them from side to side with cadence generating an amazing postcard of a sea of hands waving in the air. Then it's time for both vocalists to get heavy with “Metalhammer” (With everything and lucida of tattoo on the arm courtesy of Steve), the robotic “Deutchsmaschine” and the industrial “Panzermensch”; that puts jumps and even pushes on various areas of the track in activated mode. The contrast between the elegant and serpentine presence of Steve with the corpulence and imposing presence of Joke they form a Ying Yang perfect.

As for the attendees, the truth is that I lack words to describe how the euphoria finally released after so many years of waiting is perceived. Everywhere you look there are people vibrating and singing until the strings are torn. Everyone dances and lets their bodies move to the rhythm of the music, and the play of light in each song gives the eye a total celebration experience that will never fade from the mind. “Traum frau” and “Second Voice” are being executed and although Steve try to deceive us with that it is the last song, the truth is that we all know it is not like that and the lie has no effect. But it is real that the end is coming closer and first with “Sometimes” and then shaking the skeleton with “Steine Sind Steine”; the return of And One begins to fade away little by little. The sounds electro-tribal announce the start of “Technoman” but if we talk about famous intro sounds, the characteristic keyboard that opens “Military Fashion Show” increases the pulsations to infinity in The Plaza with which it is undoubtedly one of the most famous and expected by the fans of And One. These pulsations would keep oscillating in the atmosphere until the end with “Shouts Of Joy”; that with a spectacular illuminated end of the stage in the colors of our flag would be the perfect framework for And One say goodbye now if from Mexico City. Tired and voiceless, but very happy and satisfied, we can only hope that it will not take another decade for them to return to visit us.

Diez años de espera al final valieron la pena
And One dejó muy en claro su poder de convocatoria y calidad con un impactante sold out en su presentación, que a la postre se traduciría en una de las festas más grandes de EBM de este año.
