Myrkur premieres video ‘Touch My Love And Die’

Myrkur delivers a ritualistic cinematic entry at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026, blending metal, Nordic folk and gothic symbolism on the road to Eurovision.

Danish composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Myrkur (Amalie Bruun) unveiled the official video for “Touch My Love And Die”, her entry for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026, the competition that will determine Denmark’s representative at Eurovision in Vienna this May. Rather than adapting to the contest’s traditional pop format, the piece expands its artistic and narrative boundaries.

Filmed at Sognefjellet, Northern Europe’s highest mountain pass, directors Line Klungseth Johansen and Øystein Moe crafted a visual contrast between intimate performance and elemental landscapes — burning forests, frozen lakes and mountains — conceived as emotional extensions of the song. The imagery highlights both vulnerability and strength, reinforcing its ritualistic nature.

Musically, “Touch My Love And Die” operates as a hybrid ballad blending metal, Nordic folk, mythology and cinematic scoring. Recorded in Dolby Atmos with real musicians — cello, girls’ choir, ancient folk instruments and drums captured with more than 40 microphones — the track pursues a physical, human sound against modern digital immediacy.

Lyrically, the piece inhabits a supernatural and gothic atmosphere. It portrays a layered romance: a kiss of death, a warning and a spell simultaneously. Myrkur deliberately leaves the meaning open, inviting listeners to interpret love as both liberation and danger.

Written after a year of personal and artistic transformation and recorded in winter 2025 with Christopher Juul, the artist describes it as a creation poured with “heart, soul, blood and tears”, conceived as an antidote to AI-driven disposability. Rather than fitting in, the song aims to open space — allowing darkness to cast light.

The Dansk Melodi Grand Prix winner will be announced Saturday, February 14, representing Denmark at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna.
