Internationally acclaimed musician YOSHIKI, leader of the legendary band X Japan, will perform Japan’s national anthem Kimigayo at the Japanese Grand Prix of the Formula One World Championship on March 29, 2026.
The performance will take place at the iconic Suzuka Circuit, one of the most historic venues in motorsport. Nearly 200,000 spectators are expected to attend the event in person, while the race will be broadcast to more than 180 countries worldwide.
For the ceremony, YOSHIKI will deliver a unique arrangement of the anthem featuring both piano and drums, marking a first-of-its-kind interpretation at the prestigious Formula One event.
Speaking about the performance, YOSHIKI said:
“I am deeply honored to perform the national anthem at such a prestigious venue as the Suzuka Circuit. Following my third surgery and an extensive period of recovery, I am looking forward to delivering my full sound to the world. I hope to share a special moment of unity through music on this global stage.”
Widely regarded as one of Japan’s most influential artists, YOSHIKI has built a global career spanning rock music, classical composition, film, fashion and philanthropy. As the bandleader of X Japan, he played a central role in bringing Japanese rock to international audiences.
