Wayne Lozinak, guitarist for the American band Hatebreed, has been diagnosed with a benign meningioma, a type of non-cancerous brain tumor. The diagnosis came during the band's recent European tour, specifically following their performance at Download Festival in the United Kingdom.
The musician presented symptoms that initially raised suspicions of a possible stroke. He was later transferred to a medical center in Lille, France, where he underwent the necessary tests. The tests confirmed the existence of the tumor, which, according to specialists, may have developed slowly over several years without causing any serious symptoms until now.
Given this diagnosis, Lozinak will return to the United States to undergo surgery and focus on his recovery. Although the prognosis is favorable due to the benign nature of the tumor, treatment and rehabilitation will require some time away from the stage.
During their recovery, the band has appointed Shadows Fall member Matt Bachand as their backup guitarist for the remaining dates of their European tour. First Blood's Carl Schwartz will also take over on bass. Hatebreed has confirmed that they will maintain their scheduled performance schedule, including their participation in the Summer Slaughter Tour in the United States, which kicks off on July 8.
The group has expressed its full support for Lozinak in this process and appreciates the support of its followers in the face of this unexpected situation.
