Violet Grohl announces debut album Be Sweet To Me; new single '595'

Violet Grohl will release her debut album Be Sweet To Me on May 29, drawing inspiration from 80s and 90s alternative rock.

Singer-songwriter Violet Grohl has announced her debut album Be Sweet To Me, an 11-track record set for release on May 29 via Auroura Records, Republic Records and Island Records UK.

The album was recorded between late 2024 and early 2025 at the Los Angeles studio of producer Justin Raisen, known for his work with artists such as Kim Gordon and Charli XCX.

Be Sweet To Me draws heavily from Grohl’s love of 1980s and 1990s alternative rock, with influences including Pixies, Soundgarden, Cocteau Twins, The Breeders, PJ Harvey, The Muffs, Björk, Alice in Chains, L7 and Juliana Hatfield, alongside Grohl’s love for film, which also shapes the album’s atmosphere.

Speaking about those influences, Grohl said: “There’s something so powerful about that period of music. From the messaging to the visuals, it’s authentic and raw. I've listened to that stuff since I was a kid.”

The album announcement arrives alongside the release of the track “595.” The song was inspired by a vintage T-shirt advertising a phone sex hotline, an idea Grohl transformed into an edgy alternative rock track.

Her label describes the song as “a sly and sexy slasher filled with jolts of noise and a killer chorus,” highlighting the playful yet gritty tone that runs through the project.

The album follows previously released singles “THUM” and “Applefish,” which first introduced listeners to the sonic direction of the record.
