Swedish symphonic metal legends Therion have revealed a new live video for “To Mega Therion,” offering the second preview of their upcoming orchestral release Con Orquesta, arriving January 30, 2026. Originally featured on their landmark 1996 album Theli, this new orchestral rendition elevates the iconic track with a grand arrangement performed in collaboration with the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico.
After previous full-orchestra performances in Romania (2006) and Hungary (2007), Therion returned to the symphonic stage in 2024 with their biggest production to date: a sold-out arena show for 11,000 fans at Mexico City Arena. This monumental concert is now being released in a limited physical edition, also available on DVD and BluRay, allowing fans worldwide to experience the event’s scale and emotional impact.
Therion mastermind Christofer Johnsson explains that Con Orquesta differs from their earlier orchestral collaborations. This time, the band invited a renowned Mexican conductor and composer to reinterpret and expand the arrangements, adding new intros and interludes that transform the performance into a culturally infused symphonic reinterpretation of Therion’s music. The result is a cinematic journey that blends classical depth with the band’s signature dark mysticism.
“To Mega Therion” remains one of Therion’s most defining pieces — the moment the band stepped out of the underground and into international recognition. On Con Orquesta, the track gains new dramatic force through sweeping orchestration and dynamic vocal delivery. The album spans 20 songs from across their career, including classics like “The Blood of Kingu,” “The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah,” and “Lemuria,” alongside emotional highlights and rare covers that showcase Therion’s genre-defying approach.
