From the jungles of Brazil to the arid landscapes of Arizona, Soulfly have announced their thirteenth studio album CHAMA, set for release on October 24, 2025, via Nuclear Blast Records. The record embodies a return to the band’s spiritual roots, infused with modern vitality and fire—once again affirming Max Cavalera’s reputation as a master of crushing, rhythmic riffs.
As a first taste, Soulfly have released the single “Storm The Gates”, a primal war cry against greed and control that channels ancestral strength and unites the tribe in defiance. The track arrives with a lyric video created by acclaimed visual artist Costin Chioreanu.
Frontman Max Cavalera explained the meaning of the album title: “Chama is a Brazilian word that means flame or fire, but it can also mean a ‘calling.’ All my respect to Alex Pereira for using ‘Itsari’ in his UFC walkouts. Chama is inspired by that energy. This album is the sound of Soulfly’s fire. I can’t wait to play these songs live for the Tribe!”
Drummer Zyon Cavalera emphasized his deeper role in shaping the record: “With every Soulfly album I’ve worked on, I feel my evolution happening in real time. This time, I was able to contribute a lot to the production for the first time. It was incredible to push the band into unexplored territories, and I’m already excited to do more production work in the future.”
With CHAMA, Soulfly ignite their flame once again, blending over two decades of identity with a renewed ferocity that pushes their music into uncharted territory.
