“Siempre tocar en México es emocionante; es sentirse en casa”: Erk Aicrag [Rabia Sorda]

The alternative project of the vocalist of Hocico Erk Aicrag: Deaf rage is presented on October 21 in Under Circuit in Mexico City. Summa Inferno had a chance to talk to Erk with a view to this show.

Wild Animals was released in 2014, but so far it has its proper World Tour. What was this time frame due to?

When it came out Wild animals We did a small tour of some cities in Germany and France, the tour to Mexico could not be specified and as is the concept that is based on the song by Wild animals Now is the opportunity to install all of this in Mexico. Taking a tour is very focused on being able to bring the show to Mexico.

What feelings do you have in playing with your band in your hometown, CDMX?

Amazing. Playing in Mexico is always exciting, with Snout, now even more with Deaf rage almost after 10 years since I see my family and friends; is to feel at home.

Since the last presentation of Rabia Sorda in Mexico What differences do you expect to find from that show?

Rabia Sorda2

Especially that the public has had time to assimilate the material that we have made in these 9, 10 years. That he is aware of what we have done and everything that the project has grown. For example, the musicians I now have in the band are very committed, rooted in the concept, they are better musicians and we have been sounding very well. I really want to bring this lineup to Mexico, I think it is a good time to do a show.

We have seen that between Methods of Chaos and Wild Animals the sound of Deaf Rage has evolved and separated from the electro to have a sound closer to metal, correct? What can you tell us about it?

I don't know if it goes for the metal, but it does flirt a little with the concept. It is recycling and taking elements from other genres. Mixing sounds is what I like, it's very interesting. In the last album I put many guitars to the last record; They are very much ahead of what is associated with Punk and Metal, although the electronic elements continue to persist.

With this we are feeling very comfortable, it gives me a guideline to explore that side: rocker, metalhead, punk, who had always wanted to explore but continue to sample, make my genre hybrid: a bastard (laughs) without really having a reference fixed.

What kind of music do you listen to currently?

Soy adicto a escuchar música nueva.

Yes that's my dark wish (laughs), I have lived here for several years.

… y ¿qué extrañas de México?

Friends, family, “que onda wey, paso contigo” here is very formal, very planned: “¿cuando te veo?, ¿a qué horas?”

What differences do you find between your followers in Mexico and Europeans?

The explosiveness of the Mexican public, I think you know has been commented a lot, I as a Mexican can tell you. But hey, many friends of mine who have visited the country can assure you. It is an audience that is willing to give everything, die that same night there at the concert (laughs).

En Europa, hay de todo, puedes estar tocando en Lyon (Francia) en un lugar raro y la gente está prendidisima, París, Berlín, Londres….

… y Rusia ¿no?

Great, I think it is analogous to Mexico on this side, they share a lot of our energy, our explosiveness.

Can you send a message to your fans in Mexico? We look forward to your show.

I send you a big greeting and I wait for you at this concert, we are going to give it our all!
