The alternative project Puscifer have taken another bold step in their multimedia evolution with the release of their first comic book series, “Tales From The Pusciverse.” The launch represents a natural expansion of the band’s long-standing narrative world, built across music, visuals and performance art.
Issue #1 centers on Bellendia Black, a character first introduced in the “Pendulum” music video. The story unfolds as a conversation between Bellendia and Maynard James Keenan, serving as both an origin point for the character and a gateway into a broader, interconnected storyline.
Written by Keenan, the debut issue features artwork by Marlin Shoop and Andy Belanger, with lettering by Jack Morelli. Together, the creative team delivers a visual language steeped in satire, menace and philosophical undertones, mirroring the tension and dark humor that define Puscifer’s musical identity.
Keenan has described seeing Bellendia Black in print as a nostalgic return to the excitement of discovering comic characters as a child, now filtered through an adult, conceptual lens. For the artists involved, the series is not novelty or merchandise, but a meaningful extension of Puscifer’s ongoing exploration of absurdity, identity and commentary.
“Tales From The Pusciverse” lays the foundation for future installments spotlighting additional characters such as Fanny Grey and The Synth Whisperer. As anticipation builds for the next chapters, the comic firmly establishes itself as a new narrative pillar within the expanding Puscifer universe, complementing the forthcoming album Normal Isn’t.
