Megadeth advance their farewell with “I Don’t Care,” a dynamic new single accompanied by a video blending skate culture imagery with high-energy band performance. The track is part of the band’s upcoming self-titled final studio album, set for release on January 23, 2026.
Dave Mustaine describes “I Don’t Care” as a bold, unapologetic anthem — the kind of declaration many wish they could deliver without hesitation. The song embraces that defiant emotion with raw, cutting honesty.
Musically, Mustaine explains that part of the riff had been in his head since the sessions for The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! and finally found new life on this LP. The song features intricate rhythmic shifts, intense down-picking passages, octave chord patterns and explosive back-and-forth soloing between Mustaine and Teemu Mäntysaari.
“I Don’t Care” llega tras el lanzamiento del primer sencillo, “Tipping Point”, y del anuncio de un bonus track especial: una reinterpretación de “Ride the Lightning”, tema coescrito por Mustaine junto a James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich y Cliff Burton. Este bonus rinde homenaje directo a los orígenes del músico dentro de la historia del thrash metal.
The new single follows “Tipping Point,” the album’s first preview, as well as the announcement of a special bonus track: a reimagined version of “Ride the Lightning,” originally co-written by Mustaine. The inclusion of this iconic piece ties the band’s final chapter back to its foundational roots.
