Nightwish 2022

Nightwish hiatus could last two or three years

Kai Hahto, the drummer of Nightwish spoke with the Finnish site Chaozine about him future of the band, while promoting his new solo show, 'Alone' where he performs band songs like Wintersun, Swallow the Sun or Auri.

“I've been thinking about this, but first I want to play this first solo show and then we'll see if there's demand for me to do more. We will most likely film the show to check it out ourselves afterwards and see how we did. If it goes well, I could do a couple more this year. "It would be nice, since the next Nightwish album is coming out at the end of this year and maybe I could play a couple of new songs from that album live too since it looks like, so far, there won't be any Nightwish concerts for the next two or three years." , said.

It was in April of last year when the band announced their decision to pause their career for personal reasons. After the concerts scheduled for June 2023 we will be “hanging up our tennis shoes” for an indefinite period of time, in terms of concerts and we will not be on tour with the next album. The reasons for this The decision is personal, but we all agree, as it is vital for the well-being and future of the band. Rest assured, we still love working together and this decision has nothing to do with Floor's pregnancy or our other individual projects.

Last week, Nightwish announced that their new album had finished recording. "It's done! A total of 1,065 takes of orchestras, choirs and special guests recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Our sincere thanks to everyone involved, musicians, singers and technicians alike. Their passion and dedication never ceases to amaze us. A very special thank you to James Shearman for wonderfully filling the enormous shoes of our veteran orchestral arranger, Pip Williams.”
