Inauguration of the exhibition 'Poética de lo Urbanos: Punk and Metal in Mexico'

The National Museum of Popular Cultures has opened the doors of the exhibition ‘Poética de lo Urbano: Punk y Metal en México’, who through more than 350 objects, including cassettes, records, magazines, photographs, musical instruments, drawings, event posters, fanzines, awards and more, seeks to tell the story of two of the musical genres that have most permeated the Mexican youths of the last century.

According to the curator of the sample, Olivia Domínguez Prieto, “esta no narra la historia de estas expresiones musicales; sólo se pretendió enmarcar toda una época, una etapa entre los años ochenta y noventa previa a la era de la Internet, donde todos los intercambios se hacían por correspondencia o cara cara”.

The exhibition is open to the public and will be available until October of this year. The National Museum of Popular Cultures is located at Av. Hidalgo 289, Col. Del Carmen, Coyoacán in Mexico City.
