Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group are celebrating the massive debut of Scream 7, which delivered the biggest opening weekend in the history of the franchise and quickly became the number one movie worldwide.
The film’s end credits feature the original single “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)” by Ice Nine Kills, marking a significant moment for the band as the track has become the most successful release in their career.
Since its digital release on February 19, the song has already accumulated nearly 10 million streams in its first week, driven by the global buzz around the film’s theatrical release and the strong crossover appeal between the horror franchise and the band’s cinematic storytelling.
The official video has also helped amplify that momentum. The clip features appearances from figures tied directly to the Scream universe, including Ghostface, voiced by Roger L. Jackson, along with Mckenna Grace, David Arquette, and Johnny Brennan. The video has already surpassed 5.2 million views, expanding the cultural reach of the collaboration beyond the movie itself.
Frontman Spencer Charnas commented on the success of the film and the song:
“The horror community, movie fans and our beloved ‘Psychos’ showed up in full force and gave my favorite franchise the biggest opening weekend in its history. The filmmakers, cast, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass did an incredible job. Kevin Williamson, Marco Beltrami and of course the late Wes Craven have been massive influences on Ice Nine Kills.”
He also reflected on how the band’s relationship with the franchise has evolved over the years:
“When we released ‘Your Number’s Up’ in 2019 we never imagined Scream legends — from Skeet Ulrich to Rose McGowan or Jamie Kennedy — would appear at multiple Silver Scream Cons; that INK would get an Easter egg in Scream 6; that we’d launch Horrorwood Reserve with Matthew Lillard; collaborate with Mckenna Grace on ‘Twisting The Knife’ and appear in Scream 7; or that David Arquette would show up in our new after video.”
Charnas added:
“Seeing the first Scream when I was 11 and now collaborating with these icons is something I’ll be forever grateful for. This debut of Scream 7 is a huge win for horror cinema, for the theatrical experience, and for original songs in film.”
The video also continues to expand the band’s narrative universe known as the INKverse, blending horror film culture with the theatrical storytelling Ice Nine Kills have developed over the past decade.
In 2024, the band achieved a similar crossover moment with “A Work of Art”, the official song for Terrifier 3, which debuted at number one and became the highest-grossing unrated film of all time. The music video featured David Howard Thornton, strengthening the connection between the band and the modern horror film landscape.
With over two billion global streams and more than 505 million YouTube views, Ice Nine Kills continue to build one of the most immersive storytelling ecosystems in modern heavy music.
As Scream 7 continues its theatrical run worldwide, “Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)” is quickly becoming the soundtrack to one of the biggest horror moments in contemporary pop culture.
