Exhorder announce new album, 'Defectum Omnium'

New Orleans Thrash Groove band, Exhorder, have revealed the details and plans for the release of their long-awaited fourth studio album, 'Defectum Omnium', which will be released on March 8th through Nuclear Blast Records.

The album will have 12 tracks and a striking cover made by Travis Smith (Katatonia, Opeth). This work is the successor to the acclaimed 'MournThe Southern Skies' (2019) and is now available for pre-order.

The first single is called 'Year of the Goat' and you can watch the video below:

“Since the release of “Mourn the SouthernSkies” in 2019, it has been a unique journey for Exhorder. Formation changes, quarantines, pandemic... things have not been easy to cope with. But we persevered, kept our heads held high and got to work very focused on achieving real goals. One of them was to make the fourth album and be able to deliver it to our fans. 'Defectum Omnium' is a collaborative effort when it comes to songwriting, just as it was in the band's early days. We were in charge of producing it, since we did not feel the need for anyone outside of our circle to share the vision we had for the album. It was also very important that we continue the natural progression that the band has had since the 90s, but taking a step back towards our roots. The punk and hardcore influence from our beginnings in the New Orleans scene has a very powerful presence in this work. We also made sure to keep a lot of our thrash background in the songwriting process.

But we've also focused on keeping our doom roots alive, which were first seen on '(Cadence of) the Dirge' back in 1992. In fact, on one of our new songs, we have guest stars Rick Wartell and BruceFranklin from Trouble, and they do it very well!

From the start of pre-production to the date of the album's release, we can promise you that every bit of 'Defectum Omnium' was made with great care, and we are very excited about it. Our goal was to make an album that WE loved and that would give the experience of a trip, or perhaps a 'roller coaster' effect. We can’t wait to share it with everyone!”
