Eivør pays tribute to the women who have been part of his life and approaches metal with his new single, 'Upp Úr Øskuni / Rise From the Ashes', new track promotional of his album 'ENN' that will be released on June 14 via Season of Mist.
“When I was writing 'Upp Úr Øskuni / Rise From the Ashes', I imagined a coven of witches, past and present, singing to each other across the chasms of time,” he says. Eivør. That mental image will be forever etched in the song's official video, which you can watch below.
“This video was like a homecoming in many ways,” he continues. “I had a strong need to capture the spirit of ‘Upp Úr Øskuni / Rise From the Ashes’‘ and for that we needed to film in the Faroe Islands. Katrin Joensen Næss was the perfect choice as director, as she and I shared the same aesthetic vision. We were joined by an amazing team of Faroese female artists who I also admire, art director Jenný Kragesteen, costume designer Maibritt Marjunardóttir and the rest of these wonderful women brought their special magic to this video. We all feel that we rise together from the ashes creating this visual world. “I couldn’t be prouder or more grateful for this collaboration.”
