After five years of absence, Dream Theater will be back in Mexico as part of its tour celebrating the first 40 years of a long, fruitful and renowned career, which has made them one of the greats pillars of the progressive movement since its formation in the mid-1980s.
As if this were not enough, the band has the return of legendary drummer Mike Portnoy, something that fans had been waiting for since his surprise departure more than a decade ago. “Portnoy is not a small character,” says keyboardist Jordan Rudess in an interview with Summa Inferno, “Both personally and musically, he is great and everyone who attends the concert will be able to notice it. “It’s a good time for us.”
Currently, Dream Theater is preparing a new studio album, which would be arriving next year. “I still can't talk much about that, but well, now that Mike is back I can say that he brought with him not only his very peculiar drumming style but he also brought his many other talents to the album process. . He was very respectful of everyone, of his space. He is like a film director when it comes to art, he always thinks on a very conceptual level and when you listen to the album you will know what I mean. “It’s a great Dream Theater album.”
