Danny Carey wouldn't mind releasing an album like 'Undertow'

Gone are the days of 'Undertow', the first studio album by Tool. Even musically the band is something totally different from what they showed in their debut work; However, drummer Danny Carey wouldn't mind returning to the sound of that work for the new album they are about to create.

In a recent interview with Revolver, Carey said about the musical path her new work should take: “Who knows? We could shake things up and just do something like 'Undertow' again, with shorter songs. “That's attractive to me. “I always like change, whatever direction it takes.”

The band's most recent album, 'Fear Inoculum' was released in 2019 after thirteen long years of waiting. "This time it will be different. Everyone's life is different and everyone's expectations are different. Now time is precious, so we try to find ways to be more efficient with the process. “We’ve had a lot of discussions about that and how we can make a new record happen in a slightly different way.”

In addition, he confirmed that the creative process has already begun and “is going very well.” “Our filtering system is quite intense. If all four of us in the band like it, then we think it's going to work. It's a really painstaking process we go through to finish an album and get it to where we are. We are all completely convinced. It's worth it in the long run because we never get tired of performing our songs. It gives rise to a vehicle that we can all believe in.”

However, the band is not in too much of a hurry either, as they do not have any contract for now. “Now we are free agents. We are no longer signed to any record label. “We are free to do what we want.”
