Inferno Metal Festival is nearing the completion of its 2026 lineup, unveiling a new batch of artists that reinforces its status as one of the world’s premier extreme metal events. The newly announced names include Cult of Luna, Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Svarttjern, 1914, Sadistic Intent, Hulder, Zatokrev, Bizarrekult, Swartzheim, Gloombound, Angell and Raumer — joining previously revealed acts such as Tormentor, Mork and Firespawn. The festival will take place April 2–5, 2026, across several venues in Oslo, Norway.
Cult of Luna’s return stands out as one of the most anticipated highlights of the upcoming edition. Known for their expansive artistic vision and their ability to redefine the boundaries of heavy music, the band last performed at Inferno in 2008, delivering two unforgettable shows. Eighteen years later, they return as headliners on the festival’s largest stage, solidifying their position as one of the most influential post-metal forces today.
Another major addition is Der Weg Einer Freiheit, who have risen from underground recognition to becoming one of the most acclaimed modern black metal acts under the creative direction of Nikita Kamprad. Their performance marks their return to Inferno after their 2019 appearance, now armed with a new and widely praised record.
The newly announced lineup also highlights the festival’s commitment to diversity within extreme metal: the ferocity of Svarttjern, the cinematic historical themes of 1914, the cult legacy of Sadistic Intent, the raw mysticism of Hulder, and the experimental edge of Zatokrev and Bizarrekult all contribute to a uniquely intense bill. Founded in 2001, Inferno remains Norway’s longest-running metal festival and one of the most important extreme music gatherings globally, drawing fans from over fifty countries and transforming Oslo during Easter.
