Candlemass visits Mexico City for the first time in 3 decades, and the honor of opening such a great event is the responsibility of Nosense, original band from Mexico City of deep metal Doom and dark atmospheres.
The band was born in 2011 and released their first LP "Unseen Emotions" under the Helvete Records label. Phillus, who has participated as a vocalist in other projects such as Rebirth Of Pain, shows in this facet his denser and melodically dark side. Nosense searches as its name says to take you to the depth of non-sensation, to the absence of emotion as emotion itself.
"Unseen Emotions" is a powerful LP album that from the beginning unloads all its sound arsenal of deep nuances with "Laughing at me again", which asks nothing of any of the international alternative metal bands that tread the circus day by day. flying. The line continues with "Finally I´m Here" and those screams that seek attention where there is no longer and only remains empty. "Not This Time" slows down a bit and is closer to dark, depressing metal. “Think About It”, one of the longest tracks on the album, is an ups and downs of acoustic-electric nuances that culminates with an amazing ending.
The search for emotional nothingness continues with "Maybe" and some guitars very close to the strumming of some Heavy Metal "power ballads" at the beginning, but immediately that feeling dissipates when entering the haze of the real sound of Nosense again. "Frames" is a darkly traveled track that manages to make you travel to an emotionally torn reality, with no other drug than the melancholic and desperate sound of guitars. "Swallow The Sorrow" openly welcomes Phillus's throaty sound, making it one of the most rabid songs on the LP.
The journey to the soul well is coming to an end with “Somewhere I´ve Died” is again a roller coaster of sounds and sensations, which personally reminds me a lot of the auditory art that bands like Tool manage to generate. "Key" of almost 7 minutes of introspective journey gives final closure to an album that is truly incredible, it is only the first, because the quality of it would make us think that it is a band with much more way to go.
Here you can check out a short documentary by voice of the members of the band itself if you want to know more about what is behind this great national proposal:
