Blackbriar releases new album A Thousand Little Deaths and video for “Bluebeard's Chamber”

Blackbriar releases A Thousand Little Deaths, their long-awaited gothic album under Nuclear Blast, accompanied by the official video for Bluebeard's Chamber.

Dutch gothic metallers Blackbriar proudly unveil their latest studio effort, A Thousand Little Deaths, out today via Nuclear Blast Records. Rich in mysticism, the album showcases the band’s distinctive blend of symphonic darkness and narrative-driven songwriting.

Highlights include The Fossilized Widow, Floriography, A Last Sigh of Bliss, I Buried Us and Harpy, each track weaving layers of gothic atmosphere with emotional depth. Alongside the release, the band has shared the official video for Bluebeard's Chamber, the album’s opening song, inspired by the classic French fairy tale of Bluebeard—a tragic and haunting tale of curiosity and consequence.

Vocalist Zora Cock explained the inspiration behind the track: "Sometimes, curiosity feels so overwhelming, as if driven by an invisible force—like Aurora touching the spindle and falling into her cursed sleep. A destructive curiosity like Pandora, opening the box and unleashing evil into the world. Or Psyche, who couldn’t resist illuminating her mysterious lover, only to lose him and beg for forgiveness. My curiosity was like opening Bluebeard’s chamber… and emerging covered in blood."

With A Thousand Little Deaths, Blackbriar reaffirms their position as one of Europe’s most captivating gothic metal acts. The album delves into myth, poetry, and shadowed emotions, creating a sonic experience that feels both cinematic and intimate.

This fall, Blackbriar will headline a European tour throughout October and November, bringing the new record to life on stage with their trademark intensity and theatricality.
