Alternative rock project Bilmuri has released a new single titled “ALWAYS LET YOU DOWN,” featuring Jeremy McKinnon of A Day to Remember.
Musically, the song continues Bilmuri’s signature blend of heavy metallic riffing and catchy pop-infused vocal hooks. Lyrically, the track touches on themes of emotional fallout and lost time, with lines reflecting strained relationships and lingering regret.
The release arrives alongside a chaotic and humorous music video in which Bilmuri and McKinnon engage in a sword duel in medieval armor decorated with American flags, performing in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Prior to its release, Bilmuri teased the video on social media, describing it as “our best work to date” among the project’s recent string of elaborate music videos.
The collaboration itself came together through a chance encounter at a gym in Nashville.
Bilmuri was heading to a writing session with Sasha Sloan and Cody Quistad of Wage War when he spotted McKinnon working out.
After striking up a conversation, McKinnon casually offered to help with songwriting. Bilmuri immediately invited him to the studio session taking place just minutes later.
The meeting initially produced the song “Back Then,” which will also appear on KINDA HARD. The session became even more unexpected when Noah Sebastian of Bad Omens happened to be in town and joined the group.
“It was basically twenty years of metalcore sitting in a room,” Bilmuri recalled about the impromptu collaboration.
He later added that “ALWAYS LET YOU DOWN” ended up becoming one of his favorite tracks on the album — joking that if he hadn’t gone to the gym that day, the song might never have existed.
KINDA HARD is currently available for pre-order on clear vinyl and CD, while Bilmuri prepares to hit the road in support of the release.
The next leg of his North American tour begins April 17 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colorado, launching a series of shows scheduled throughout the spring, summer and fall.
