Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong once again used the stage as a political platform, delivering a direct message aimed at the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency during a recent performance by the band.
Addressing ICE agents directly, Armstrong questioned their role within a system he believes will ultimately abandon them once they are no longer politically useful. He made clear that his message was not rooted in hatred, but in personal responsibility.
“This goes out to all the ICE agents listening: quit that job. Because when this is all over — and it will be over — the same politicians you’re serving will drop you like nothing,” Armstrong stated from the stage.
His remarks also included criticism of political figures associated with aggressive immigration policies, including former U.S. president Donald Trump, whom Armstrong has repeatedly called out throughout his career.
“Donald Trump and all those people won’t be there when accountability comes. You will,” he added.
The comments immediately sparked strong reactions online, dividing fans between those who supported the message and those who viewed it as too extreme. Still, Armstrong showed no intention of backing down, reinforcing his belief that punk and rock music have always served as tools for social criticism.
