Avatar debuts high-octane video for “In the Airwaves” and teases new album

Avatar unveils “In the Airwaves,” a breakneck video and the flagship single of their awaited tenth studio album exploration.

Swedish metal pioneers Avatar have dropped the official video for their latest single, “In the Airwaves”—a high-speed, furious track that reaffirms their melodic aggression. It follows May’s powerful “Captain Goat” and sets the stage for their upcoming tenth studio album.

Directed by longtime collaborator Johan Carlén, the video mirrors the song’s intensity and dark theatricality. The band describes it as their fastest release yet: “It’s a return to core aggression—a cathartic blitz of rage.”

Frontman Johannes Eckerström revealed the upcoming album explores bold new production angles—progressive arrangements, live piano, orchestral layers—and leans into subconscious creativity and ambition.

Avatar also released North American tour dates this fall, featuring Alien Weaponry and Spiritworld, with a major headline show in Mexico City. They’ll also be supporting legends Iron Maiden and Metallica, underscoring their global momentum.

With “In the Airwaves” and an ambitious album on the horizon, Avatar is poised to dominate 2025 with innovation, speed, and theatrical flair.
