German symphonic power metal band Avantasia have announced details of their new studio album, ‘Here Be Dragons’, which will be released on February 28th via Napalm Records. The album’s cover art is by artist Rodney Matthews.
“This new album has the most adventurous and bold spirit my music has had in decades. And it’s quite brash, fearless, powerful and thought-provoking – and not at all introverted. While my previous albums allowed me to let off a lot of steam, this time I dove headfirst into the creative stream, creating ten discrete musical images, which miraculously coalesced into what I believe to be the most complete chapter in the history of Avantasia. I did everything exactly the way I wanted, approaching the album with relentless determination and a carefree attitude, which reminded me of my early days long before opera metal, when I felt unstoppable and let instinct write songs. Right now I’m full of energy and can’t wait to unleash ‘Here Be Dragons’ and then start the big tour with our new stage.
