Alkaline Trio welcomes Tosh Peterson as new drummer following Atom Willard’s departure

Alkaline Trio welcomes Tosh Peterson as new drummer, highlighting his experience and strong connection with the band after Atom Willard’s departure.

The band Alkaline Trio has confirmed the addition of drummer Tosh Peterson as an official member, marking a new chapter after the recent departure of Atom Willard last month.

Peterson, a 24-year-old Californian, joins the group after performing with Lady Gaga on her Mayhem Ball tour, as well as working with artists such as Machine Gun Kelly, Fall Out Boy, Bad Bunny, and Lil Nas X.

Frontman Matt Skiba shared details about their first meeting and praised both Peterson’s talent and personality.

“I met him a few months ago at Swingers, where we had lunch to discuss the possibility of him playing in Alkaline Trio. His mom was also there and turned out to be a history buff, so we spent much of the meal talking about Churchill and the Miracle of Dunkirk while Tosh quietly ate his fries.

He later told Dan that if we had had a problem with his mom being there, he probably wouldn’t have wanted to play with us anyway.

Aside from being an absolute monster behind the kit, he’s a great guy: kind, polite, enthusiastic, driven, and hilarious. I told Dan I wouldn’t want Tosh to play with us if he hadn’t brought his mom. He’s a beautiful human being and we’re very excited to travel and make music with him. We couldn’t be more grateful to welcome him into our family.”

Peterson’s arrival represents a key move for the band as they continue forward after lineup changes. His versatility and experience position him as a strong addition to the group.

For now, no further plans have been detailed, but the message makes clear that a new era has begun for the band.
