"One day, I'll be like a witch": Jill Janus of Huntress

In 2012, Huntress it was an emerging metal band. One more of the Napalm Records releases. I was offered to interview, by email, their vocalist, the beautiful Jill Janus.

I did it for the defunct Nocturna magazine.

Huntress It never became a world-famous group that filled stadiums, but it certainly managed to add fans with the three studio albums it recorded. The last of them, Static, was published in 2015.

But Jill I was going through a personal hell. He had suicidal tendencies, as a result of a diagnosed mental disorder of which he spoke many times in public. Also, she had survived uterine cancer.

On Thursday, August 16, she was found dead. She herself decided to end her existence.

But as well as his music, his words will remain forever and therefore the need to revive that text.

How many of us do not want to own the heart of such a woman! However, the only one who has managed to conquer her is Attila, her little English bulldog.

Jill Janus is the leader and singer of Huntress, a Californian metal band that grew out of the merger of the defunct Professor group, with Jill. Together, they released their first album Spell Eater in May. Miss Janus is a fierce marijuana promoter, professional witch and also one of the 25 most beautiful girls in metal according to Metalholic magazine.

You studied opera, how do you mix it with your work at Huntress?

Classic training is the root of my technique in the band. Thanks to the opera, I am able to reach high notes and not run out of air in the middle of a verse, as you can hear it.

jill 1Were you satisfied with the album?

Of course !, writing and recording Spell Eater represents a dream come true; Let's say that for a long time I visualized it and it remained as I had imagined it. Also, I love being in the studio with my band, they are a love. Before we all used to live in the same house, but we had to change it for a Van, there is nothing better than getting in the truck and going on a trip!

How did your fascination with sorcery begin?

Because of my family, they were not an ordinary family. From a very young age they pushed me to believe in what is considered pagan. Ever since I can remember, witchcraft guides absolutely every aspect of my life. On the other hand, I walk my own path and I am not part of Wicca. For me, Wicca is an organized religion and I do not like that although many members of Wicca have known me since we published the single Eight of Swords and have offered me their light, love and magic.

Is it uncomfortable to be so sexy in the metal environment?

First of all thanks for telling me that I'm sexy, because I feel like a complete nerd. One day I will become an ugly old witch, but I will enjoy my beauty while it lasts.

I read some pretty harsh reviews about you, does it hurt?

The opinion of others does not interest me; in fact, I never read the reviews. I traced my path and headed for the target without paying attention to how good or bad Huntress is said.

Finally, once you said that if you could choose to appear on the cover of a magazine you would do it in High Times, a means of promoting marijuana, are you in favor of legalization?

The band finds inspiration on the grass and it's fine with me, so why? Legalize the fucking drugs so that it is not so difficult to get them and make this fucking fucking country richer.
