On July 28, a video was published on YouTube in which 4 Mexican bands (Dresden Wolves, The "X", Kafka by the sea and Peach) reported alleged fraud and breach of contract by the company Popup TV.
In this video, the musicians testify to the process they went through on July 3 and 4 during a tour of different states of the Republic in which Popup TV He allegedly failed to deliver on the promise of transportation, performances and promotional activities that he had pledged to the gangs as part of a package they had previously agreed to.
The video shows testimonies and situations experienced by the musicians during the tour and works as an open letter of complaint to demand a prompt response from the promoter company, as well as from Hector Quijada –Caller of The lupita- who is also involved in the project Popup TV.
The company's social networks and the singer have not issued an official statement about it. A few hours after the video was released, the company published a brief comment on Facebook stating that the information was false, without going into depth, while yesterday a user named Erika Guerrero questioned the company about deleting other comments related to the complaint and required clarification. However, during the writing of this text, all the comments were deleted and only one allusion to the subject is maintained by quoting a text in a conciliatory tone published by David Velasco, vocalist of Porter, on your own social network.
The issue of companies that are dedicated to doing business at the expense of bands that hope to make themselves known by paying for a tour and media promotion package is not new, since in previous years similar complaints have emerged to companies like Babel Productions. However, the dissemination of this video, and the formalization of the complaint beyond an open secret by those involved gives rise to a deeper understanding of the subject, since one question is to profit from the aspirations of the gangs, but another very different one is the breach of contracts.
The original video of the complaint is shared below:
