The change is part of a joke previously announced by creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The pair presented the South America name as satire aimed at recent controversies surrounding geographic renaming moves and proposals associated with President Donald Trump, while specifically invoking Apple and Google in their announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That new identity extends into the opening sequence itself. Season 29 introduces the town as South America, while Claypool's theme replaces the familiar old name within lyrics that have opened the show for decades. The premiere sequence also includes a caricature of Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
