M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce are returning to the starting point of their discography with a special 45th-anniversary edition of Too Fast For Love. The new collection arrives October 30 through BMG, bringing together both historic versions of the album, 1982 live recordings, the band\u2019s earliest studio sessions and an extensive selection of reproductions and archival material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reissue revisits an album whose story began before M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce had the backing of a major record company. Too Fast For Love was originally released on November 10, 1981 through Leath\u00fcr Records, the band\u2019s own label, with an initial pressing of only 900 copies. That edition contained 10 songs and featured a different mix and running order from the version that would later receive international distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band\u2019s growing profile in the Los Angeles club circuit quickly attracted Elektra Records, which signed M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce less than six months later. A new version of Too Fast For Love followed in 1982, remixed and remastered with nine songs and \u201cStick To Your Guns\u201d removed. By then, \u201cLive Wire\u201d had become one of the first cornerstones of the band\u2019s catalog, aided by a video that found an audience during MTV\u2019s formative years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That combination of hard rock, a clear punk influence and a visual identity built around glam helped separate M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce from the Hollywood scene that would expand dramatically throughout the rest of the decade. Too Fast For Love eventually earned Platinum certification in the United States and Gold status in Canada, while serving as the first chapter of a discography that would produce Shout At The Devil only two years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The anniversary edition is designed to document that transition. At its center is the original 1981 Leath\u00fcr Records version, an edition that has become one of the most sought-after pieces in the M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce catalog, with original copies regularly commanding thousands of dollars on the collectors\u2019 market. It sits alongside the 1982 Elektra version, allowing both incarnations of the debut to be heard within the same collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
