Its traveling summers became an essential meeting point for punk, hardcore, emo, pop punk and metalcore, while countless listeners outside the United States experienced that culture mostly through records, videos, photographs and stories. In September 2026, that relationship changes for Mexican audiences. The festival will make its first visit to Mexico with a two-day edition at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, and The Devil Wears Prada will arrive as one of the bands with an authentic connection to Warped Tour’s history.

That connection reaches back to 2008, when The Devil Wears Prada were still part of a rapidly expanding generation of metalcore bands that would reshape heavy music during the following decade. They would return to Warped Tour several times as their own profile grew, experiencing from inside the peculiar ecosystem that made the festival different from a conventional package tour. Nearly two decades later, the context has changed dramatically. Warped Tour itself has been reimagined, metalcore has gone through multiple cycles of popularity and reinvention, and many of the bands once associated with that period have either disappeared or become legacy acts.

The Devil Wears Prada, however, have resisted becoming a museum piece for their own scene. More than twenty years into their career, Mike Hranica, Jeremy DePoyster and company continue to treat evolution as part of the band’s identity rather than a threat to it. Their ninth studio album, Flowers, released in November 2025, pushed that philosophy further, balancing heaviness with melody, atmosphere and vulnerability while continuing a transformation that has gradually moved the band beyond many of the stylistic expectations attached to its early years.

That makes their appearance at the inaugural Mexican Warped Tour particularly interesting. The band will stand in front of listeners who may have followed Prada since the MySpace era alongside others who discovered them through records such as The Act, Color Decay or Flowers. Ahead of the festival, Summa Inferno spoke with vocalist Mike Hranica about what Warped Tour means almost two decades after his first experience with it, whether nostalgia can coexist with artistic progress, the strange experience of watching younger bands rediscover the sound of his generation, his changing relationship with old songs and the question every long-running artist eventually faces: how much of the past should be preserved, and how much should be left behind.

Para toda una generación de seguidores de la música alternativa, Vans Warped Tour existe en algún punto entre el recuerdo y la mitología.
