ANTHRAX have officially confirmed the release of Cursum Perficio, their twelfth studio album and first in a decade since 2016\u2019s For All Kings. The new material will arrive on September 18 through Nuclear Blast Records and Megaforce Records in North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The band\u2019s current lineup \u2014 Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello, Joey Belladonna and Jonathan Donais \u2014 worked intensely on the album starting in 2022 at Dave Grohl\u2019s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, building a work they themselves describe as a culmination of the band\u2019s entire musical evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The title Cursum Perficio, a Latin phrase that can be translated as \u201cMy journey has come to an end\u201d or \u201cI complete my journey,\u201d quickly became the central concept of the record. According to Charlie Benante, he discovered the expression while watching a documentary about Marilyn Monroe and felt it perfectly represented the band\u2019s artistic journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Musically, the album promises to recover much of the band\u2019s classic aggression, blending the most direct thrash with modern melodic elements developed during Anthrax\u2019s latest stage. The material was produced by Jay Ruston alongside the band and seeks to expand the sound they consolidated on albums such as Worship Music and For All Kings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the first preview, Anthrax presented the single \u201cIt\u2019s For The Kids\u201d, a fast, explosive song completely oriented toward the group\u2019s most classic thrash metal. The single arrives with a video visually inspired by the historic clip for \u201cMadhouse\u201d, one of the band\u2019s fundamental anthems during the eighties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
