American metal titans Slipknot have filed a federal lawsuit against the current owners of the Slipknot.com domain, claiming the site has been improperly used for over 20 years to profit from the band\u2019s global name and reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the court filing, the domain was originally registered in the late 1990s by a third party unrelated to the group and has since redirected to multiple pages with no affiliation to Slipknot, including ticketing platforms and unrelated promotional content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The band argues that this constitutes trademark infringement, unfair competition, and cybersquatting, asserting that the domain\u2019s owners have intentionally attempted to capitalize on the Slipknot brand\u2019s immense recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Slipknot, fronted by Corey Taylor, is seeking full transfer of the domain as well as financial compensation for damages, interest, and legal costs.
