Si eres fan del Metal Industrial y no conoces a Ministry<\/strong>, deber\u00eda darte mucha, mucha verguenza. Al Jourgensen<\/strong> y sus muchachos practicamente inventaro el g\u00e9nero en el que bandas como Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson y Rammstein se han movido a lo largo de los a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Tras su inminente regreso a los escenarios para 2015, su guitarrista, el dos veces nominado al Grammy Sin Quirin<\/strong> habla en exclusiva para Summa Inferno<\/strong>, revelando los detalles de la pr\u00f3xima gira del Ministerio Industrial, el futuro de la banda y sus propios planes en solitario.<\/p>\n

Te uniste a Ministry en 2007 para la grabaci\u00f3n de ‘The Last Sucker’. \u00bfDe qu\u00e9 forma ha evolucionado tu m\u00fasica desde entonces?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bueno, desde ‘The Last Sucker’<\/em> y el ‘CU LaTour’,<\/em> lanc\u00e9 dos discos con Revolting Cocks<\/strong>, un \u00e1lbum en vivo con Ministry<\/strong>, fui nominado dos veces al Grammy y eventualmente escribimos el \u00e1lbum Relapse<\/em> [Ministry] y nos fuimos de Tour con el mismo en 2012. Luego, volvimos al estudio para grabar From Beer to Eternity. Y ahora estamos preparandonos para volver a la carretera en 2015.<\/p>\n


\nAdem\u00e1s de Ministry has estado envuelto con bandas como Lords of Acid, Supermaniac y American Head Charge. \u00bfNecesitas tener tantos proyectos para dejar tu creatividad salir?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Si, ha ayudadp estar involucrado en las bandas que he estado, especialmente porque son bandas de las que soy fan y que tienen estilos tan distintos -yo creo-. Naturalmente en el aspecto creativo, ayuda mucho tener toda esa oferta.<\/p>\n

Haz estado dos veces nominados al Grammy, supongo que es un gran logro en tu carrera…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eso es algo que en realidad nunca pens\u00e9 que pudiera pasar. Tambi\u00e9n es algo que nunca esper\u00e9 o siquiera so\u00f1\u00e9. Pero el estar nominado fue una experiencia grandiosa para mi. Estar rodeado de todas esas otras bandas que tambi\u00e9n estuvieron nominadas fue un gran honor y no me sent\u00ed mal por haber perdido con Judas Priest. La sola experiencia completa del Grammy fue muy divertida. Conoc\u00ed a alguno de mis \u00eddolos, como\u00a0Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett y Ike Turner. No soy alguien enorme en cuanto a premios, pero fue un buen reconocimiento.<\/p>\n

Hasta este d\u00eda, no habr\u00e1 un nuevo \u00e1lbum de Ministry. Pero como todos sabemos, las cosas pueden cambiar… o pueden no hacerlo. No lo s\u00e9. Yo realmente espero que haya un nuevo \u00e1lbum de Ministry, pero si no, estoy satisfecho por haber terminado con From Beer to\u00a0Eternity.<\/em><\/p>\n

En la grabaci\u00f3n de ‘From Beer to Eternity’<\/em> tuviste un papel muy activo. \u00a0En caso de que haya [en el futuro] un nuevo \u00e1lbum de Ministry, te gustar\u00eda volver a estar inmuscuido en la composici\u00f3n del mismo?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Si, yo colabor\u00e9 con From Beer to Eternity<\/em>\u00a0 y siempre estoy pensando en m\u00fasica. Pero no s\u00e9 lo que pasar\u00e1. Tal vez solo escriba un nuevo \u00e1lbum de new Revolting Cocks o uno con Lard, pero siempre es un proceso lento. Ya veremos que pasa…<\/p>\n

Bueno, Ministry estar\u00e1 de vuelta en gira en 2015. Regresar\u00e1n a Mexico, \u00bfverdad? \u00a1\u00bfVerdad?!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a1Si! La gira empieza el 21 de Febrero en Australia, luego vamos a Sud\u00e1frica, Sudam\u00e9rica y estaremos en M\u00e9xico a mediados de Marzo, para tocar en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xic, pero esperamos tocar en en Monterrey tambi\u00e9n. Estoy muy emocionado por tocar en M\u00e9xico, pues es el lugar donde mis padres nacieron; nunca he tenido la oportunidad de tocar ah\u00ed, as\u00ed que es algo que me quiero hacer. Espero hacer algunas entrevistas en espa\u00f1ol y comerme unos churros y carne asada [en espa\u00f1ol].<\/p>\n

Y este nuevo tour, \u00bfde que va? \u00bfSer\u00e1n puros \u00e9xitos, algo de ‘From the Beer to Eternity?…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Definitivamente vamos a tocar muchos temas de From Beer to Eternity<\/em>\u00a0y tambi\u00e9n tocaremos muchas canciones viejas, cl\u00e1sicos de Ministry. Algunas que no se han tocado desde los 90s. Y bueno, eso es todo lo que te puedo contar sobre el setlist por ahora…<\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s, \u00bfqu\u00e9 sigue para la banda?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s de esta fase del Tour, estaremos de gira por Estados Unidos, luego Europa y Reino Unido para los Festivales veraniegos. Eso es todo lo que tenemos planeado para el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n

\u00bfY para ti, que es lo que sigue en tu carrera? \u00bfHaces algo aparte de lo planeado con Ministry?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Si, tengo un par de cosas que estoy haciendo ahora y que espero poder seguir haciendo. En primera, mi propia marca de guitarras SIN\u00a0Schecter que ser\u00e1 presentada en la convenci\u00f3n\u00a0NAMM en Enero. Adem\u00e1s acabo de firmar con Blackstar Amps y espero hacer algunas clinicas a lo largo de 2015-<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n estar\u00e9 trabajando en una pel\u00edcula llamada ‘The Bridge’<\/em>\u00a0que contar\u00e1 con las actuaciones de Joe Elliott de Def Leppard, Eddie\u00a0Ojeda de Twisted Sister, Joey Santiago de The Pixies, Ricky Warwick de Black Star Riders y Al Jourgensen. Ser\u00e1 mi “gran debut en el cine” y quien sabe, tal vez hasta me bese con Al en la gran pantalla [risas]. As\u00ed que el 2015 ser\u00e1 un a\u00f1o muy ocupado, pero quiero repetirlo, \u00a1estoy muy emocionado por tocar en M\u00e9xico en Marzo!<\/p>\n

You joined Ministry in 2007 for ‘The Last Sucker’ – What evolves in\u00a0your music since then?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, after The Last Sucker and C U LaTour, we released two Revolting Cocks albums, a live Ministry album, got\u00a0nominated for two Grammys, and eventually wrote a song for the Relapse\u00a0album and toured in 2012 for that record. We then went back into the studio\u00a0to write From Beer to Eternity. Now we’re getting ready to go back on the\u00a0road in 2015.<\/p>\n

Besides Ministry you\u00b4d been involved in another bands as\u00a0Lords of Acid,Supermaniac and American Head Charge. Do you need so many\u00a0projects to letyour creativity out?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It helps being involved in the bands\u00a0I’ve been involved in, especially because they’re bands that I am a fan of\u00a0and bands that I think have different styles. So naturally on the creative\u00a0side it helps to have that type of outlet.<\/p>\n

You\u00b4d been nominated to Grammys\u00a0twice. I thinks is a great milestone for your career…<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s something that I never ever thought would happen. It’s\u00a0also something that I never expected or dreamed about either. But being
\nnominated was a very cool experience for me. Being around the bands that we\u00a0were nominated with was a big honor for me and I didn’t mind losing to\u00a0Judas Priest. Just the whole Grammy experience has always been a lot of\u00a0fun. I got to meet some of my idols like Smokey Robinson, Tony Bennett, and\u00a0Ike Turner. I’m not huge on award shows but it was a real cool\u00a0acknowledgement.<\/p>\n

Al just said that will never be another Ministry\u00a0album – cause MikeScaccia death- … is write on stone?<\/strong><\/p>\n

As of today,\u00a0there will be no more Ministry records. But as we all know, things change\u00a0so it may or may not happen. I don’t know. I hope there is another\u00a0Ministry record, but if not I am fine ending it with From Beer to\u00a0Eternity.<\/p>\n

You had a major role in ‘From Beer to Eternity’ – Are\u00a0youwriting\/thinking about some music for a relative new album for the\u00a0band?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes I did contribute quite a bit to From Beer to Eternity I am\u00a0always thinking about music, I just don’t know what it’s for at this point.\u00a0I don’t know if it could eventually turn into some brand new project… it\u00a0could turn into a new Revolting Cocks album or maybe even a new Lard\u00a0record, but the idea and songs are always slowing so we’ll see where they\u00a0end up.<\/p>\n

Well. Minisitry will be on tour again in 2015 and you\u00b4ll be back\u00a0in Mexico, right?<\/p>\n

Yes the tour starts February 21st in\u00a0Australia, then South Africa, South America, and we hit Mexico in\u00a0mid-March, I believe. We’re hoping to do Monterrey as well as Mexico City.\u00a0I’m very excited and looking forward to playing Mexico. That’s where my\u00a0parents were born; I’ve never had the opportunity to play in Mexico, so\u00a0this is something I’m definitely looking forward to. I hope to do some\u00a0interviews in spanish down there and to have some churros and carne asada.<\/p>\n

This new tour, what about it? Will be a ‘From the Beer’ tour, a\u00a0Greatest-hits one? What could we expect about it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We’re definitely gonna\u00a0be playing a lot of songs From Beer to Eternity and we’re also gonna be\u00a0playing a lot of old, classic Ministry songs. Some which haven’t been\u00a0played since the 90’s. That’s really all I can say about the set list right\u00a0now…<\/p>\n

What\u00b4s next for Ministry?<\/strong><\/p>\n

After this first leg of the tour,\u00a0we’re planning on touring the U.S. Then going over to Europe and the U.K in\u00a0the summer for the festival season. That’s all we have planned for this\u00a0upcoming year.<\/p>\n

And what\u00b4s the next for you? Are you doing something apart\u00a0Ministry now?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, I have a few things i’m currently doing and hope to\u00a0continue to do. First off, I have my brand new signature series SIN\u00a0Schecter guitar which will be officially unveiled at winter NAMM in\u00a0January. Also currently endorsed by Blackstar Amps and I hope to be doing\u00a0some clinics all through 2015. I’m also gonna be working on a movie called\u00a0The Bridge: The Movie which will star Joe Elliott from Def Leppard, Eddie\u00a0Ojeda from Twisted Sister, Joey Santiago from The Pixies, Ricky Warwick\u00a0from Black Star Riders, and Al Jourgensen. That will be my “big movie\u00a0debut” and who knows, maybe I’ll have a big on screen kiss with Al. So,\u00a02015 should be fairly busy and I want to go back and say I’m very excited\u00a0to hit Mexico in March!<\/p>\n
