Slash, for example, recorded his solos with surgical precision despite the distractions of his surroundings. Adler's powerful, grimy drumming was key to giving the sound that streetwise drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Geffen Records first received the album, they feared it was too aggressive for mainstream radio. For months, the record went unnoticed\u2014until MTV aired \u201cWelcome to the Jungle,\u201d and the tide turned.
